petite goldendoodles for sale near me

A Goldendoodle is a mixture between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle; the Poodle part of the mix can be one of the three sizes of Poodles, Standard the largest, Miniature and Toy. Standard Goldendoodles typically range from 22 inches to the shoulder to 26/27inches although on occasions they can reach the dizzy heights of 29 inches. Whilst being totally adorable, we found that Standard Goldendoodles can sometimes be just too big for some families so we decided to look at also breeding a ‘scaled down’ version, leading us to look towards Miniatures. We discovered that Miniatures are a new phenomenon in the UK but that there is a huge variation in heights according to the size of Poodle in the mixture. We are now in the position to produce different sizes of 'Miniatures'. We are very excited to be the first breeder of 'Petite' Goldendoodles, which have the same characteristics as larger Goldendoodles but in a smaller package! They are likely to average around 14 inches to the shoulder, and we can more or less guarantee that no Standard size puppies will appear in a litter of Petites. Our Miniature puppies tend to average approximately 16 17 inches to the shoulder, around Cocker Spaniel size, although normally a little stockier. We also can breed Medium Miniatures who average around 18 22 inches to the shoulder, so perfect for families wanting a 'dog sized dog' but not a pony! All these different types of Miniatures result in a perfect family sized companion coupled with the gorgeous teddy bear looks that the Goldendoodle is renowned for, and wonderful, gentle, friendly temperaments which are second to none. It is important to be aware that we cannot guarantee size as puppies could reach the size of either parent or potentially taller. PLEASE BE AWARE that in an F1 mating, becauise one parent is a Golden Retriever then puppies can easily reach the size of a Golden Retriever when mature, although they are not normally as heavy. This is despite the sire being a Miniature Poodle.

goldendoodle life expectancy

Golden Retrievers are very social and people oriented, so they should not be left alone for long periods of time. As a large breed dog, the Golden Retriever has a median lifespan around 11 to 12 years, though it is possible for them to live up to 15 years in good health. Golden Retrievers are susceptible to a number of inherited conditions, so careful breeding is incredibly important for this breed. Some of the most common conditions to which the breed is prone include hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, cancer, and heart disease. Some Golden Retrievers are also at risk for various joint diseases like patellar luxation and osteochondritis. It is also important to feed Golden Retrievers appropriately to maintain a healthy weight because obesity is a common concern for the breed.
